Tiny Desk and Feminist Fest

On Friday evening, No True Scotsman played at Loyola University New Orleans’ Feminist Festival, opening for 2017 Tiny Desk Contest winners Tank and the Bangas. We filmed our video submission for the competition a couple months ago and we were all excited about it, but when we sat down to look at the other New Orleans submissions, we stumbled on Tank and the Bangas’ video. We were proud of our submission, but holy cow their video was near-perfect. We weren’t even jealous because you can’t be jealous of a group that just genuinely deserves good fortune, can you?

We joked about how funny it would be if another band from New Orleans won. And then they did win. Josh and I texted each other in all caps something like, “TANK AND THE BANGAS WON TINY DESK OMGTHEYRESOAMAZINGISLDF SJDSDFH dsafhkjs d….” Or something to that effect. Playing right before them was an absolute thrill, and we hope to play on a bill with them again.
